Support and FAQ

Quick answers about setup, widgets, Apple Watch, and notifications.

If something is unclear, this page should be the quickest place to check how nxTrain works.

Common questions

Can I save more than one commute?

Yes. Each commute can have its own stations, days, and times. You can keep up to 20 and reorder them in setup.

How does nxTrain decide which commute to show first?

On iPhone you can browse any saved commute. Widgets, complications, and Apple Watch try to show the one that fits the current day and time.

Can iPhone widgets and complications show a specific commute?

Yes. You can assign a specific commute to a widget or complication. If none is chosen, nxTrain falls back to the first saved commute.

When do disruption notifications fire?

If notifications are on, nxTrain can send a local alert when several trains for an active commute in the next hour are delayed or cancelled.

How often does it update?

More often around your commute times, and less often outside them.

Will it affect battery life or use lots of data?

It is designed to keep both low by refreshing around commute windows and reusing cached data where it can.

Can I use it on a day I do not usually commute?

Yes. Use "Commuting today" for a one-off journey without changing your usual schedule.

What if a delayed train has no estimate yet?

nxTrain prefers to show the next service with a usable estimate. If a delayed train gets an estimate later, the app and widgets can update to show it.

Will Apple Watch still work if my phone is off?

Yes, after initial setup on iPhone. Apple Watch can still show saved data and refreshed results when watchOS allows it.

What journey types are supported?

Direct journeys only. For a trip with changes, save each leg separately.

Need help with something odd?

Email . A few specifics make it much easier to work out what went wrong.

  • App version and device model
